Rowenta DW5080 Focus Iron

The Rowenta DW5080 Focus II iron placed 1st and scored a massive 92% when I reviewed the best Rowenta irons.

The DW5080 is such a fantastic steam iron that I have decided to do a full review on it.

Let’s waste no time and get straight into it.

Hopefully, I will leave no stone unturned.

For me, the Rowenta Focus DW5080 is on another level… a completely different league to nearly every other steam iron available to purchase, so let’s get into the review and find out what makes it so great.

Check out my reviews on Black + Decker steam irons.

Key Features

  • Excellent steam distribution
  • Easy-glide stainless steel soleplate with precision tip
  • 3-way auto-shutoff
  • Vertical steaming
  • Anti-drip lid
  • Self-cleaning system

Performance

The heat the DW5080 steam iron can produce alongside the amazingly even steam distribution will now make the toughest wrinkles an old memory.

The glide and ease that the focus iron removes wrinkles and creases is something to behold if you currently are wrestling with a $20 iron.

This Rowenta DW5080 steam iron’s soleplate has 400 evenly distributed micro steam holes making the iron glide across your garments and finish your laundry pile in no time whatsoever!

Rowenta has even patented the 400 micro steam holes so you won’t be seeing it anytime soon on other iron brands.

The soleplate is also made of stainless steel as not to rust or scratch and is extremely durable.

Steam

The Rowenta DW5080 can produce 100 grams of steam per minute at the press of a button, making even the toughest wrinkles a thing of the past.

With the amount of consistently even steam this iron can produce the DW5080 can even double up as a vertical steamer.

Perfect for when you just want to give an item like a shirt/dress a quick spruce up, but cannot be bothered to drag out the ironing board… well now you don’t have too!

Design

The DW5080 like many of its competitors is designed with a precision tip making it much easier to get into the awkward places, such as in between buttons and collars on shirts.

The ergonomic knob is extremely easy to understand what setting you are currently on and the spray button and the steam button are also clearly labeled.

The anti-drip lid is a good design but as with nearly any iron at lower temperatures, you may find the odd drip.

The soleplate has a rounded bottom so you won’t crease your clothes as you move the iron around the board.

The weight of the iron with water in the tank is about 3.5 lbs which I concede may be too heavy for some and that is the main reason it doesn’t score 100%.

But as I have said many times before and you will read from me many times in the future… you need to have some weight to your iron to perform at the highest standards.

Lightweight irons just aren’t at a professional level yet.

Ease of Use

The Rowenta DW5080 is one of the simplest irons that you will ever use with everything labeled very clearly from which fabric you are choosing to the steam button.

Heat

It won’t take you long to realize this Rowenta iron isn’t just any iron with its 1700-watt of power that can heat up in just 60 seconds flat.

No more waiting around for the iron to heat up, it will be waiting for you!

One thing to note about the heat of the Rowenta DW5080 iron is that it may heat up fast but it cools down slowly.

This is normal with irons but it is worth knowing that if you have been ironing at high temperatures you are going to want to leave it 15-20 minutes before putting your iron away.

Quilting

If you are a quilter the Rowenta DW5080 is a good iron for your needs at an affordable price.

It’s durable, it has a good weight, a burst of steam, and a smart auto shut-off system.

Value for Money

As far as value for money goes the Rowenta DW5080 focus has it in spades!

It is cheaper than a lot of professional irons on the market and outperforms them too.

The DW5080 is averagely priced for a Rowenta steam iron.
